Every Nigerian Child Has Capacity To Excel Academically- NCAOOSCE

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children’s Education-NCAOOSCE, Dr Muhammad Sani Idris says every child has the potential of excelling academically.

He made this known in Bauchi at a capacity-building seminar organized by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation.

Dr. Idris who spoke on: “School Management, Financial Sources, and Control” attributed poor academic performance among students to failure of teachers to adhere to the standard teaching methodology.

The Executive Secretary said students must be made to comply with all instructions given to them for enhanced teaching and learning.

Dr Idris advocated constant training and retraining for school managers and teachers to update their knowledge and skills.

He also said for every school to succeed, it must have vision, capacity, aspiration, ownership and support.

On the almajiri and out-of-school-children, Dr Idris said President Bola Tinubu was worried about the menace and ready to support any initiative towards bringing it to an end.

The Executive Secretary also explained that efforts were being made towards the integration of western education into the curriculum of almajiri schools and taking millions of vulnerable Nigerian children off the streets.

The Director of Education of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, Sayyadi Aliyu Sisse Dahiru Bauchi appreciated the Executive Secretary for sharing his wealth of experience, and pledged their support for the restructuring of the Almajiri system of education.

Participants from the over 600 Schools under the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation attended the seminar.
