COAS Commissions Upgraded Radiodiagnostic Center At The 44 Army Reference Hospital Kaduna

The Nigerian Army says it is making huge investments towards upgrading its medical facilities across all formations and units.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja stated this shortly after commissioning the upgraded radiodiagnostic centre, and installation of 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonace Imaging -MRI machine held at the 44 Nigerian Army reference hospital, Kaduna State.

Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja explained that the sound administration mantra of his command philosophy is hinged on providing essential welfare support to troops and their families.

He pointed out that medical support that is required by personnel and their families is topmost on his agenda.

The Army Chief disclosed that in the event that troops sustain injuries on the field, the Army high command would ensure that the affected troops receive the best medicare within or outside the country as the case maybe.

Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja noted that similar interventions are currently ongoing in other Army formations and units in Makurdi, Ikeja, Lokoja, and Yola among others.

He expressed optimism that with the commissioning of the equipment, it was a new dawn for the medical corps, and by extension, officers, soldiers and their families.

General Lagbaja charged the acting corps commander Medical and staff of the hospital to exercise utmost care in the use and maintenance of the equipment, so that the desire of the Army high command to provide essential welfare support to troops and their families can be achieved.

Eaelier in his welcome address, the acting corps commander Medical, Brigadier General Samson Okoigi explained that with the state of the art equipment, the hospital was poised to revolutionize medical imaging and diagnosis within the armed forces and broader community.

He added that hospital recognises the need for establishing robust maintenance agreements with reputable organisations with proven track record of exceptional service.

Highpoint of the event was the inspection of the hospital facility by the Army Chief, senior officers and other invited guests.

The Chief of Army Staff was also at the Command Secondary School to witness the commissioning of the renovated school dining hall and construction of 1.8km road sponsored by the immediate past Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.
