KNHA Extends Tenure of 44 LGAs IMC

Kano State House of Assembly has approved tenure extension for the Interim Management Committees- IMC across the 44 local government areas.

This was sequel to a report presentation by the chairman house committee on local governments and chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Hamza Zubairu Masu during today’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore.

Massu who doubles as chairman of the screening ad-hoc committee explained that, the chairmen, vice chairmen and other members of the IMC were carefully scrutinized by four groups under the leadership of the deputy speaker, majority leader and chief whip

He stressed that, after scrutiny, it was found out that each of the interim committees of each local government effectively discharged their duties without fear or favour.

“None of them was found guilty of misconduct or abuse of office in the last three months”, he stated.

Hamza Zubairu Masu pointed out that the committee recommended that the House should grant the request by the executive to extend the tenure of the interim management committees of the 44 local government areas from 8th June to 7th September 2024.

Seconding the motion, the majority leader of the House, Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala urged the House to approve the extension without hesitation for the development of the state.

After careful deliberations, the House unanimously adopted the motion and approved the tenure extension of IMCs.

The House has called on the state government to upgrade Akilu Hospital Madobi to the status of a general hospital.

Mover of the motion and member representing Madobi Sulaiman, Mukhtar Ishaq argued that the elevation of the hospital would go a long way in uplifting healthcare services in the area.

The House adjourned its sitting to Monday 15th July 2024 in a motion moved by the majority leader Lawan Hussaini Dala.
