Ex-Minister Criticizes Judicial Inquiry Commission Absence

A former Minister of Transportation Alh. Yusuf Sulaiman has advised the judicial arm of government to upholds ethical and moral values needed in changing the narratives of governance for socio-security and economic development of the country.

The Minister who is also a former Minister of youth and Sports gave the advice while speaking to newsmen after appearing as a witness before a judicial commission of inquiry setup by Sokoto state government to probe the past PDP let administration in the state.

Alh.Yusuf Suleiman and the former deputy governor of Sokoto state, under the past leadership of governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Alh. Mannir Dan Iya appeared as witnesses on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, after a summon letter was pasted on the wall of their houses .

He said it is unfortunate after honoring the commission’s invitation, no any member of the commission of inquiry was present at the venue of the Commission’s sitting.

Sulaiman cautioned the judicial commission of inquiry not to allow themselves to be used by politicians whose concern was geared towards achieving their selfish interest.

He said judges and lawyers must maintain professionalism and ethical values in ensuring the administration of justice in the court of law in a bid to championing the course of development in Nation building .

The former Minister and the former deputy governor who were accused of unlawful possession of public vehicles said they were not informed about any adjournment of the commission sitting before their appearance.

Radio Nigeria in Sokoto Muhammad Nasir gathered that, during the last Panel sitting, the Commission chairman, Justice Mu’azu Pindiga, had granted leave for Sokoto government, to serve court papers on Suleiman and Dan Iya through substituted means, by pasted the panel’s summons on the fences of their residences.
