President Bola Tinubu has directed his ministers to present their performance reports to Nigerians in commemoration of his first anniversary in office. The low-key celebration will begin with sectoral media briefings by the 47 federal ministers, starting on Thursday.

The announcement was made at a press briefing in Abuja by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, and Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Bagudu.

At the opening of a three-day cabinet retreat, the President stated that ministers would only retain their offices based on performance, which would be reviewed quarterly. If ministers fail to meet performance objectives, they will be reviewed, and no one is an island.

“If you are performing, nothing to fear. If you miss the objective, we’ll review it. If no performance, you leave us. No one is an island and the buck stops on my desk,” he said.

The Central Delivery Coordination Unit, responsible for the assessment, trained at least 140 officials to track and assess the performance of federal ministries, departments, and agencies.
